What's biting?

A planning helper for shore (land-based) fishing around Perth & Peel. It blends live weather, swell, water temperature, light and tide against each spot and method to suggest where, what and when to fish.

🎣 Fishing methods

Pick how you fish (top filter / onboarding). Each method has its own target species and scoring:

🦑 Eging — squid jigging over weed in low light.
🎣 Light shore casting / LSJ — small metals, slugs & plastics off rocks, jetties and groynes (herring, tailor, skippy, salmon, snook).
🏖️ Surf fishing — beach & gutter bait / distance casting for bigger fish (tailor, salmon, mulloway, pink snapper, tarwhine).
🪱 Estuary soft plastics — plastics in rivers and estuaries (black bream, flathead, flounder).
👨‍👩‍👧 Family bait fishing — easy, kid-friendly float / bait for small species (herring, garfish, whiting, mullet). This method also rewards safe, low-risk spots with parking and toilets.

The score (0–100)

It's a conditions-fit score, not a catch probability — how well today's conditions suit that spot + method + species, not the odds of catching. Colour bands:

confidence (low/medium/high) shows how trustworthy the data is — it drops for unverified spots, missing tide, or estimated water temperature. Unverified spots are capped at 75 and never show "high" confidence until they're field-checked.

📊 What it looks at

For each spot, method and species the fit score reads live conditions: wind (speed, gusts & direction vs the spot's shelter), swell (height & period vs exposure), water temperature, tide movement, light / time of day (dawn, dusk, night), each species' season, and WA-specific factors like the Fremantle Doctor sea breeze and weed / water clarity after big swell or rain. Spot facts (structure, exposure, risk, access) and current fishing rules are layered on top. The exact weighting is our own model — but those are the inputs it reads.

🎯 Best tab

Pick the When (next 7 days), Method and (optional) Species at the top. Each card is one spot showing its best species for that day — spot · method · species · time · score. Tap a card to see that spot's top 3 species, why it scores, suggested gear, rules and a safety note.

• Sort: Score / Nearest — Nearest uses your location.
• View any spot dropdown — check any of the 38 spots (ignores your method filter), handy before a trip.
• This week — the top 2–3 species for each of the next 7 days. Tap any line for detail.

📋 Rules tab

Quick size/bag/licence summary per species. Always confirm with the official source (link shown). Pink snapper has a Cockburn/Warnbro Sound closure (1 Aug–31 Jan) shown here.

Limits follow WA DPIRD and update automatically (the app re-checks about once a month — see the "current as of" date on the tab). Bag limits are individual figures within WA's mixed-species daily categories — confirm the official source before you keep a fish.

📒 Log tab

10-second catch log (or a blank — both help). Conditions are captured automatically and it's private to your device. Export/Import to back up. Your log is shown on a spot's detail but doesn't change the score yet.

🗺️ Map tab

Marker colour = risk (🟢 low · 🟡 medium · 🔴 high). Tap a marker for spot info and "See the bite". ✎ Edit pins lets you drag a pin to its exact spot, mark it verified, and Export the corrected coordinates.

Pins are approximate reference points only. The exact fishing spot, access and safe footing can differ on the day — always use your own judgement of the on-site conditions to decide where to actually fish.

⚙ Settings

Default methods, wind units (kt/km·h), default screen, location on/off, and Install. Tide is built in — nothing to set up.

⚠ Safety & data

Recommendations are a rule-based estimate, not a guarantee. Dangerous wind/swell/night conditions are filtered out, but you are responsible — always check live marine conditions and official rules before you go. If the forecast gets old the app flags it, and past 24h it pauses active ranking and shows results as reference only. Data: Open-Meteo (weather/marine), Stormglass (tide), OpenStreetMap/CARTO (map).

🔒 Privacy & data

During the beta we record your profile (nickname, email, age, optional suburb, chosen methods) and anonymous in-app usage (which menus and actions you use), linked by a random on-device id, to improve the app. We never collect your GPS location or your logbook — those stay on your device. Email master@wa-shore-fishing.com to access or delete your data.

📲 Install (Add to Home Screen)

Install it like a real app — full-screen and works offline. The pictures are a rough guide; your screen may differ.

Desktop (Chrome/Edge): click the install ⊕ icon in the address bar, or Settings ⚙ → Install app.

❓ FAQ

Is the score a catch guarantee?

No — it's a conditions-fit score (how well today suits that spot + method + species), not the odds of catching. The final call is always yours.

Do I need a fishing licence?

Not for shore rod-and-line finfish in WA. A licence is needed for boat fishing, rock lobster, abalone, marron, netting and freshwater. Always confirm the official rules.

Why is my favourite species scoring low?

Usually it's out of season, the wind/swell/clarity is poor that day, or your Method filter excludes it. Open a card and check the Season bar.

Are the size/bag limits official?

They follow WA DPIRD and auto-update about monthly, but rules change — always confirm at the official source linked in the Rules tab before you keep a fish.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once installed it shows the last forecast (flagged as stale). Reconnect to refresh.

Is my data private?

Your logbook and GPS stay on your device and are never sent. We collect your profile + anonymous in-app usage to improve the beta (see Privacy).

It didn't update after a change?

Fully close and reopen the app, or hard-refresh in the browser. Data and rules also refresh automatically when you're online.

How do I use it on another phone?

Enter the same email at the welcome screen and your setup carries over — no need to re-enter your details.

🎣 낚시 방식

상단 필터·온보딩에서 방식을 고르세요. 방식마다 대상어종과 점수 기준이 다릅니다:

🦑 Eging — 저조도에 위드 위에서 오징어 에깅.
🎣 Light shore casting / LSJ — 갯바위·제티·그로인에서 소형 메탈·슬러그·플라스틱 캐스팅(herring, tailor, skippy, salmon, snook).
🏖️ Surf fishing — 해변·거터 원투/미끼로 대형어(tailor, salmon, mulloway, pink snapper, tarwhine).
🪱 Estuary soft plastics — 강·하구 소프트플라스틱(black bream, flathead, flounder).
👨‍👩‍👧 Family bait fishing — 아이들과 쉬운 소형어 찌·미끼(herring, garfish, whiting, mullet). 이 방식은 위험이 낮고 주차·화장실이 있는 안전한 스팟을 더 높게 평가합니다.

점수 (0–100)

이 점수는 조과 확률이 아니라 '조건 적합도' 점수입니다 — 오늘 조건이 해당 포인트+기법+어종에 얼마나 잘 맞는지를 나타내며, 잡을 확률이 아닙니다. 색상 구간:

신뢰도(낮음/보통/높음)는 데이터의 신뢰 수준을 나타냅니다 — 미검증 포인트, 조석 정보 누락, 수온 추정 시 낮아집니다. 미검증 포인트는 75점으로 제한되며 현장 검증 전까지 '높음' 신뢰도가 표시되지 않습니다.

📊 무엇을 보고 판단하나

각 포인트·기법·어종에 대해 실시간 조건을 종합합니다 — 바람(세기·돌풍·방향 vs 포인트 차폐), 너울(높이·주기 vs 노출도), 수온, 물때(조류 흐름), 빛·시간대(새벽·해질녘·야간), 어종별 제철, 그리고 프리맨틀 닥터 해풍·큰 너울이나 강우 뒤 해초·물색 같은 WA 특유 요소까지 봅니다. 여기에 포인트 정보(구조·노출·위험·접근)와 최신 낚시 규정을 더합니다. 구체적인 가중치 계산은 자체 모델이지만, 참고하는 입력 정보는 위와 같습니다.

🎯 Best 탭

상단에서 When(향후 7일), Method(기법), 그리고 (선택) Species(어종)를 고르세요. 각 카드는 하나의 포인트이며 그날의 최적 어종을 보여줍니다 — 포인트 · 기법 · 어종 · 시간 · 점수. 카드를 누르면 그 포인트의 상위 3개 어종, 점수 근거, 추천 장비, 규정, 안전 안내를 볼 수 있습니다.

• 정렬: 점수 / 가까운 순 — 가까운 순은 위치 정보를 사용합니다.
• 모든 포인트 보기 드롭다운 — 38개 포인트 어디든 확인(기법 필터 무시), 출발 전 점검에 유용.
• 이번 주 — 향후 7일 각 날짜의 상위 2~3개 어종. 줄을 누르면 상세 보기.

📋 Rules 탭

어종별 크기/마릿수/면허 요약. 반드시 공식 출처로 확인하세요(링크 제공). 핑크 스내퍼는 Cockburn/Warnbro Sound 금어기(8/1~1/31)가 표시됩니다.

한도는 WA DPIRD 기준이며 자동 갱신됩니다(약 한 달에 한 번 재확인 — 탭의 "기준일" 표시 참고). 마릿수는 WA 혼합어종 1일 카테고리 안의 개별 수치이니, 보관 전 공식 출처로 확인하세요.

📒 Log 탭

10초 조과 기록(빈 기록도 도움이 됩니다). 조건은 자동 저장되며 기기 내 비공개로 보관됩니다. 내보내기/가져오기로 백업하세요. 기록은 포인트 상세에 표시되지만 아직 점수에는 반영되지 않습니다.

베타 피드백: 카드의 👍/👎, 또는 포인트 상세의 Went / Catch를 누르세요 — 기기에 저장됩니다. 여기 Export beta feedback로 내보내 보내주시면 앱 개선에 큰 도움이 됩니다.

🗺️ Map 탭

마커 색 = 위험도(🟢 낮음 · 🟡 보통 · 🔴 높음). 마커를 누르면 포인트 정보와 "See the bite"가 나옵니다. ✎ Edit pins로 핀을 정확한 위치로 끌어 검증 표시하고 보정 좌표를 Export할 수 있습니다.

지도의 포인트는 참고용 대략 위치입니다. 실제 낚시 지점·접근·발판 안전은 그날 상황에 따라 다르므로, 어디서 낚시할지는 반드시 본인이 현장을 보고 판단하세요.

⚙ Settings

기본 기법, 풍속 단위(kt/km·h), 기본 화면, 위치 on/off, 설치. 조석은 내장되어 있어 별도 설정이 필요 없습니다.

⚠ 안전 & 데이터

추천은 규칙 기반 추정이며 보장이 아닙니다. 위험한 바람/너울/야간 조건은 걸러내지만 최종 책임은 이용자에게 있습니다 — 출발 전 항상 실시간 해상 상황과 공식 규정을 확인하세요. 예보가 오래되면 앱이 이를 표시하고, 24시간이 지나면 활성 추천을 중단하고 참고용으로만 보여줍니다. 데이터: Open-Meteo(날씨/해상), Stormglass(조석), OpenStreetMap/CARTO(지도).

🔒 개인정보 & 데이터

베타 기간에는 앱 개선을 위해 프로필(닉네임·이메일·연령·선택 거주지·선택 기법)과 익명 사용 기록(어떤 메뉴·동작을 쓰는지)을 기기에서 생성한 무작위 ID로 연결해 수집합니다. GPS 위치와 로그북은 절대 수집하지 않으며 기기에만 남습니다. 데이터 열람·삭제는 master@wa-shore-fishing.com 로 문의하세요.

📲 설치 (홈 화면에 추가)

실제 앱처럼 설치하면 전체화면·오프라인으로 쓸 수 있습니다. 아래 그림은 참고용이며, 기기에 따라 화면이 다를 수 있습니다.

❓ 자주 묻는 질문(FAQ)

점수가 조과를 보장하나요?

아니요 — 조과 확률이 아니라 '조건 적합도' 점수(오늘 조건이 그 포인트+기법+어종에 얼마나 맞는지)입니다. 최종 판단은 본인의 몫입니다.

낚시 면허가 필요한가요?

WA에서 육상 낚싯대 낚시(핀피시)는 면허가 필요 없습니다. 보트 낚시·록랍스터·전복·마론·그물·민물낚시는 필요합니다. 공식 규정을 항상 확인하세요.

좋아하는 어종 점수가 낮게 나와요.

대개 비성수기이거나, 그날 바람/너울/물색이 나쁘거나, Method 필터에서 빠져서입니다. 카드를 열어 Season 막대를 확인하세요.

크기·마릿수 한도가 공식인가요?

WA DPIRD 기준이며 약 월 1회 자동 갱신되지만 규정은 바뀝니다 — 보관 전 Rules 탭의 공식 출처로 꼭 확인하세요.

오프라인에서도 되나요?

설치하면 마지막 예보를 보여줍니다(오래되면 표시). 연결되면 갱신됩니다.

내 데이터는 비공개인가요?

로그북과 GPS는 기기에만 남고 전송되지 않습니다. 베타 개선을 위해 프로필+익명 사용 기록만 수집합니다(개인정보 참고).

수정 후에도 갱신이 안 돼요.

앱을 완전히 닫았다 다시 열거나 브라우저에서 강력 새로고침 하세요. 온라인이면 데이터·규정도 자동 갱신됩니다.

다른 기기에서 쓰려면?

시작 화면에 같은 이메일을 입력하면 설정이 그대로 따라옵니다 — 정보를 다시 적을 필요 없습니다.
